Adult Inpatient Psychiatry

The student functions as a subintern on the Adult Inpatient Hospital
Unit, working directly with an attending psychiatrist, and as an
integral member of the treatment team. The student will have
direct and primary responsibility for the initial psychiatric evaluation
of a number of patients, whom the student will follow through their
treatment course, developing skills in the use of psychopharmacologic
agents, psychotherapy, and family therapy. The course director
will work with the student to set individualized goals to help the
student maximize this experience. Regular meetings with the
treatment team attending psychiatrist will be scheduled to discuss
the clinical work and relevant literature.
No nights or weekends during this rotation.
