4th Year Electives

Clinical Neurology

Director:  Philip Hsu, M. D.

Duration:   4 weeks
Students per month:   1

The rotation will be divided into four one-week blocks.  Each week will be devoted to a different group of topics in neurology and be precepted by a neurologist who has special interest and expertise in those areas.

Outpatient experience will vary from week to week and take place in the offices of several teaching neurologists.  Focused reading material and clinical exercises will be assigned.  In addition, there will be several lectures and/or case conferences weekly in order to ensure introduction of the student to a broad range of neurological disorders.  Examination techniques and the significance of physical findings will be stressed.

Routine inpatient consultations will not be emphasized, but cases of particular neurological interest and educational value may be assigned.  The student will attend neuroradiology and neuropathology conferences several times during the rotation.

If you are interested in our 4th year elective, please submit an application.
