Consultative Medicine

The clerkship is designed to provide the student with a broadly
based experience in medical consultation for patients on the
surgical, psychiatric, and obstetrical services. The student
will work with a senior resident and an attending preceptor.
Consultative services will be provided to both inpatients and
outpatients. The educational content includes (but is
not limited to): preoperative risk evaluation in patients with
a variety of medical problems, postoperative problems, outpatient
preoperative management of medical problems; medical problems
in pregnancy; and medical complications of psychiatric treatment.
No nights or weekends during this rotation.
