The endocrine elective at
Baystate
Medical
Center
is a very strong
clinical experience in Adult Endocrinology. The student
will participate in the diagnosis and treatments of inpatients
and outpatients seen in consultation by the Endocrine Division.
The student will attend the Adult Endocrine-Metabolic Clinic
and the Metabolic Bone Disease Clinic. The student will
participate in thyroid Nuclear Medicine including thyroid
imaging and the use of radioiodine in the treatment of thyrotoxicosis
and thyroid carcinoma. The student will participate
in the weekly Endocrine-Metabolic conference, monthly Resident
Endocrine Conference, and weekly Endocrine Pathology Conference.
There are weekly didactic sessions for the students and residents.
The student will be exposed to the entire spectrum of clinical
endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism.
