The program will introduce the student to the clinical discipline
of hematology and oncology. The student will be exposed
to a variety of both simple and complex problems, stressing
pathophysiology and modern management.
The student will make daily teaching rounds with the Hematology/Oncology
Service, attend the Hematology Clinics (Adult and Pediatric),
and see patients regularly in the Hematology/Oncology Evaluation
Unit. In addition, there is a weekly Tumor Conference
and there are weekly Hematology/Oncology conferences as well
as less formal conferences.
The student will be expected to examine and evaluate in depth
two or three new patients per week with follow up, if possible.
The student will be expected to participate in ward rounds
and in both formal and informal conferences.
No nights or weekends during this rotation.
