High Risk Obstetrics

Students on this elective will follow selected inpatients and
outpatients with medical and surgical complications of/during
pregnancy.
Students will be exposed to the basic principles of evaluating
fetal and maternal health. The student will attend daily
rounds, high risk obstetrics clinic, and follow patients through
their antepartum and intrapartum periods. Students will
be active and integral members of the team. Students will
observe and perform ultrasounds on high risk obstetrics patients.
A specific relevant clinical topic will be assigned to each
student during the course of the rotation for an in-depth review
and presentation.
Students may opt to work nights and weekends on labor and delivery.
