Pediatric Subspecialties

A rotation that gives a taste of several pediatric subspecialties.
A flexible four week elective with exposure to multiple subspecialties
will be designed for each student. Subspecialties include
pulmonary (including cystic fibrosis and bronchopulmonary
dysplasia), allergy, endocrinology, adolescent medicine, cardiology,
sexual abuse, and child neurology. In general, we suggest
limiting the number of experiences to three or four, including
some pediatric urgent care experiences.
Frequently, students will attend outpatient subspecialties
with housestaff and third year Tufts’ students.
Student will have direct patient contact in the outpatient
setting under the supervision of various subspecialty attendings.
Students will also be encouraged to attend reqular pediatric
teaching conferences including Grand Rounds (T,
No nights or weekends during this rotation.
Portions of this elective take place off of the Baystate campus. A car is recommended as Baystate cannot provide transportation to off-campus sites.
