Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery

The elective in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Baystate Medical Center offers the fourth year student the opportunity to be intimately involved in the treatment of outpatient and inpatient plastic surgical problems.  A wide variety of patients including pediatric cleft lip and palate, breast reconstructive, cosmetic surgery, trauma reconstructive, hand and microsurgery are seen.  The student will function at the level of surgical intern and have responsibilities in the plastic surgical clinic, private office and hospital settings.  Emphasis will be on combination of preoperative and postoperative evaluations, as well as a busy operative experience.  Interested students may participate in available clinical research projects. 

Students will be on call every third night during the week.


This Elective is located in Longmeadow, MA. A car is recommended as Baystate cannot provide transportation to off-campus sites.
