Vascular Surgery

The purpose of this clerkship is to introduce the student to
the principles and techniques of peripheral vascular surgery.
The student will be part of a team made up of house officers
as well as attending physicians and will participate in all
phases of care of patients with peripheral vascular problems.
The student will be expected to examine patients and
to assist in the preoperative evaluation including arteriography.
The student will assist in surgery and will participate in the
postoperative management of these patients. The student
will be exposed to the basic elements of peripheral arterial
disease and will also be exposed to the basic elements of peripheral
venous disease. The student will also be exposed to noninvasive
vascular lab, including Duplex Scans.
