ANNOUNCEMENTS Sandra Bellantonio, MD Named Promising Young Leader in Geriatrics One of Five Included in the First Cohort to be Selected Dr. Bellantonio's selection by the Association of Directors of Geriatric Academic Programs (ADGAP) is part of a selection process that will result in a total 20 Leadership Scholars over a 3-year period.
With funding from the John A. Hartford Foundation of New York City, ADGAP has developed a 2-year program to increase the leadership and management skills of newly appointed geriatrics program directors through intensive formal training, close mentorship and strong peer-support.
It is expected that Leadership Scholars and their mentors will commit time to the development of the Scholar as a leader. David Longworth, MD has been Dr. Bellantonio's local mentor. For each Leadership Scholar, the program supports:

Elisabeth Bennett, PhD—New Director of Education in Academic Affairs Aims to Further Development of Research in Medical Education at Baystate Elisabeth (“Liz”) Bennett, PhD joins the Division of Academic Affairs this month as the Director of Education at Baystate Medical Center. With research interests in organizational and educational change, social technologies, and adult learning and creativity, Dr. Bennett will be contributing to further development of research in medical education at Baystate.
Dr. Bennett comes to Baystate from the University of Oklahoma, where she has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Adult and Higher Education. She received her PhD in adult education with an emphasis in human resource and organizational development from the University of Georgia. With the continuing transformational changes in graduate medical education in the United States, there are important needs and great opportunities for medical education research at Baystate. Daniel Skiest MD Promoted to Professor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine Dr. Skiest is also the Director of HIV Services in the Infectious Disease Division of the Department of Medicine. Created using a SCOPUS RSS feed, the list includes only publications by Baystate authors. Read the article titled "How to Design Library Websites to Maximize Usability", on Elsevier's website.

Baystate Health Research Incubator Fund Announces the Third Year of Funding October 10th is Deadline to Submit Letter of Intent The goal of this Fund is to provide support to encourage research by BMERF and BH physicians with the intent of securing external funding. Initial funding of projects approved in this next cycle begins in early 2008.
Key financial support for this endeavor has been committed by BMERF, the Office of Academic Affairs, SAS, BRI, and WNERTA. Grants are awarded for up to 3 years with rigorous mandatory annual review focused on progress towards stated goals. Total anticipated Year One disbursement is $100,000-$150,000 total with $20,000-$50,000 per grant. Disbursements in following years is to positive annual review of the project and future funds flow to the Incubator Fund.
