FEATURE Would you like the opportunity to mentor a medical student between their first and second years, or a rising senior at UMass—Amherst, who will work with you on your research project this summer? Through the Collaborative Biomedical Research (CBR) program (www.baystatehealth.com/cbr) Baystate Medical Center and UMass Amherstsponsor a 10 week summer scholar research program. We are looking for faculty who represent a variety of research interests to serve as mentors for these students who are exploring the potential of careers in medical, biomedical, public health, or behavioral health research. About the Program The program will run from Friday, June 1 – Friday, August 10, 2007. Students receive at $3,000 stipend, which is paid by the CBR. Students also participate in a seminar series on research methodologies, and present their research hypotheses and specific aims at the end of the first week of the program and their results at the conclusion of the program to students, faculty, and mentors.
This program offers students the opportunity to participate in medical research that is part of your larger project but with a research experience that is designed for the student and under the direct mentorship of a full-time faculty member of Tufts University School of Medicine or UMass—Amherst.
