Stipends for Residents and Fellows Presenting at Academic Meetings
Provides Financial Assistance for Registration or Travel

Baystate is now offering institutional financial assistance in addition to the support that each program provides to residents and fellows who present their research findings at a regional or national academic meeting. This will be provided in the form of a stipend that can be used for meeting registration or travel in accordance with the Baystate travel policies (BC 5.100 Corporate Travel Policy).

Stipends in the following amounts:

  • $500  for a regional scientific meeting

  • $750 for a national scientific meeting

will be offered to any resident or fellow who presents an oral presentation, or is first author on a poster presentation.

To obtain the stipend, a copy of the letter or email of acceptance, and information about the meeting should be submitted to Gigi Mason (Georgianna.Mason@bhs.org) in Academic Affairs. Stipends will be coordinated through the resident's or fellow' s Education Coordinator.

Holiday Gathering Largest Ever

More than 200 residents, fellows, program staff, faculty, and their families gathered on December 15th to enjoy holiday festivities together.

Grand Rounds

The party, a long-time tradition at Baystate, is an opportunity for faculty and staff to relax and socialize in a casual atmosphere and get to know one another personally as well as professionally.

In the spirit of giving back to the community, donations of toys and money were collected for Baystate's Children Hospital. Child-Life Specialists were thrilled with the donations for the playrooms.

Hosted for many years by the Department of Medicine, the event was sponsored this year by the Division of Academic Affairs. "The party is a way to thank everyone for their hard work all year long," says Christine Hanna, Graduate Medical Education Registrar and organizer of the event.
