8th Annual Celebration of Resident & Fellow Research Featured 76 Posters On May 22nd, an audience of nearly 150 attended Research Week's opening day luncheon for the awards cpresentation and to hear the keynote address by Dr. Harry P. Selker of Tufts New England Medical Center. Research Week 2007 Award Winners Awards Presented to Andrew Moore, MD and Sabha Ganai, MD
The award for innovation in research is presented to the poster whosd originality best challenges existing paradigms. This year’s winner was Dr. Andy Moore, a resident in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, for his poster “Novices Outperform Experienced Laprascopists in Virtual Reality Laprascopy Simulator.” Dr. Moore’s poster was also presented in October 2006 at the 62nd Annual Meeting of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine in New Orleans. Dr. Moore’s co-authors were Daniel Grow, MD Ronald Bush, BS and Neil Seymour, MD. Dr. Sabha Ganai, Scientific Signifance Awardee, Is Repeat Winner Winner of the award for scientific significance in research was Dr. Sabha Ganai’s poster “Targeting Bacteriolytic Therapy of Breast Cancer Using Salmonella Typhimurium.” Dr. Ganai, from the Department of Surgery, won the same award last year for her poster “Adverse Outcomes of Geriatric Abdominal Surgical Patients at High Risk for Delirium: Opportunities for Improvement in Care."
Dr. Ganai also presented her poster at the Society of Surgical Oncology’s 60th Annual Cancer Symposium in Washington, DC in March 2007. Dr. Ganai’s co-authors were Richard Arenas, MD and Brook Pazik, N.S. Forbes.
