Internal Medicine Residency Program Praised for Creative Approach by the RRC
The Internal Medicine residency program, which is participating in the Educational Innovation Project (EIP) of the American Board of Internal Medicine, received kudos from the Residency Review Committee at its September 2008 meeting. The RRC “noted with appreciation the demonstrated level of innovation” and “commended the program for: careful and creative approach to integrating clinical quality with education." In particular, the RRC's report cited the "Learner Milestones Checklist," saying it may have promise for implementation within other programs, and the "Observational Teamwork Tool. In addition, they praised the thoughtful way in which the program discussed and acknowledged both sucesses and barriers. The report concluded that the RRC “enthusiastically supports your continued participation in EIP.” Kevin Hinchey, MD is the Program Director for Baystate Medical Center's Internal Medicine residency program.
