Heather Z. Sankey MD, Ob-Gyn Residency Program Director, Appointed Chief of the Division of General Obstetrics & Gynecology Michael Rosenblum MD, Associate Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program, Appointed Medical Director of Baystate High Street Health Center-Adult. Dr. Rosenblum completed his training and chief residency in Baystate's Medicine Residency Program. He joined BMERF in 2003 as a clinician educator at High Street and the faculty of Tufts University School of Medicine as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine. 9th Annual Research Week is May 20 - 23, 2008 Deadline for Abstracts is April 11th Research Week abstracts may be submitted through your Program's Education Coordinator or electronically by using the Research Week 2008 Abstract Submission Form. The deadline to submit abstracts is Friday, April 11, 2008.

Research Mentors Sought for the Summer Student Scholar Program at Baystate Medical Center The Summer Student Scholar Program offers faculty with research in medical, biomedical, public health, or behavioral health research opportunities to serve as mentors for students who are exploring the potential of medical and research careers. It is sponsored by Baystate Medical Center and the University of Massachusetts Amherst through the Collaborative Biomedical Research (CBR) program. 10-Week Program Matches Research Interests of Mentors and Students The Summer Student Scholar Program offers students the opportunity to be mentored by a full-time faculty member of Tufts University School of Medicine or the University of Massachusetts Amherst while participating in medical research that is designed for them but is part of their mentor's larger project. The program runs from June2 – August 8, 2008. The CBR provides a $3,500 stipend and a seminar series on research methodologies. Students present their research hypotheses and specific aims at the end of the first week and their results at the conclusion of the program to students, faculty, and mentors. Several faculty mentors with active research projects that could involve a student during the summer are needed. More information is available on the Summer Scholar Program page of the CBR website. If you are interested in being a research mentor for this program, please contact Kristi McLeod (Kristi.McLeod@bhs.org or 794-4466). 2008 Regional Conference of the Northeast Group on Educational Affairs (NEGEA) Abstract Submission Deadline is February 8, 2008 The theme of this year’s meeting, hosted by the University of Vermont College of Medicine in Burlington Vermont, is "Collaboration Across the Continuum." This conference is targeted at medical students, educators, administrators and clinicians. NEGEA invites submission of abstracts that fit the conference theme or that are of interest to the NEGEA in one of these formats:
The Innovation Awards and Presentation Abstracts submission forms are available at http://med.uvm.edu/negea The Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program (CSP) Applications Due February 29, 2008 for July 1, 2009 Appointment The Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program (CSP), a 2 year fellowship for physicians interested in health services research, is now accepting applications at http://rwjcsp.unc.edu/scholars/howtoapply/index.html. Janice Humason, MHP Joins the Division of Academic Affairs as the Allied Health Education Office's New Program Analyst Janice Humason has a Masters degree in Health Professions from Northeastern University. Prior to joining Baystate, she was the Contract Manager for the Housing and Homeless Services Unit at the Department of Transitional Assistance. Janice is located in Porter 3923 and can be contacted at 4-1086. Holiday Party Gift Donations Appreciated Thank you for the generosity of those who attended the Residents & Faculty Holiday Party. Fifteen toys for various ages were donated to the Baystate Children's Hospital. |
