FEATURE 9th Annual Research Week Features 89 Posters Del Blank, Emergency Medicine Research Coordinator, First Winner of New Outstanding Achievements in Clinical Research Award
On May 20th, a standing-room-only crowd attended the opening day luncheon, awards presentation and keynote address by Dr. David Leach, former executive director of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). This year the scope of Research Week was expanded to celebrate the accomplishments of faculty, research coordinators, nurses and others who are involved in biomedical and educational research, in addition to residents and fellows. Research Week Award Winners Award for Outstanding Achievements in Clinical Research
This award, new this year, recognizing the outstanding contribution of a research staff member to either the conduct of clinical research within Baystate Health (systems contribution) or to the field (regional or national recognition) was presented to Del Blank, RN, MN, MBA, Research Coordinator, Department of Emergency Medicine. Award for Significance in Research This year's winners were Eileen Kehoe MD, Nephrology Fellow, Thabo Kenopsi MD, Endocrinology Fellow, and Abbie Courtmanche MD, Internal Medicine resident, for their poster, "Usefulness of Serum Creatinine for Detecting Renal Insufficiency in Elderly Outpatients." Their co-authors were Michael Rothberg MD, Penny Pekow PhD, Maura Brennan MD, Ricky Wang, Jeffrey Mulhern MD, and Gregory Braden MD. Award for Innovation in Research
Andew Moore MD, Obstetrics and Gynecology resident, won the Award for Innovation in Research for the second year in a row with his poster, “Recurrent low oocyte maturity (RLOM) during ICSI compared with age-, response rate-, and stimulation protocol-matched controls: a retrospective cohort study.” Dr. Moore’s co-authors were Daniel Grow MD, M Amy PhD, Kelly Lynch MD, Halina Wiczyk MD, and Yusoff Dawood MD. |
