Leng Jiang MD, Division of Cardiology, Receives International Cooperation Award at the 19th Great Wall International Congress of Cardiology Dr. Leng Jiang, Director of Non-Invasive Cardiology, received one of only two International Cooperation Awards bestowed at the Congress. Dr. Liang is a respected clinician and educator in both the United States and China and has been involved in a collaboration between the American Heart Association and the Chinese Heart Association. Samuel Borden MD, Med-Peds Residency Program Director, Accepts Position on ACGME's Standing Panel for Accreditation Appeals in the Specialty of Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Combined med-peds residencies do not have independent ACGME review committees; instead, they are reviewed by either the internal medicine or pediatric review committee. The Standing Panel serves as an adjunct to the respective review committee whenever an appeal arises. The appointment is for 6 years. Erez Vidan, MD and Laurie Gianturco, MD Received the 2008 Cum Laude Award From the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Drs. Vidan and Gianturco's exhibit, “Common False Positive Findings on FDG PET/CT: An Atlas of Artifacts, Normal Variants, and Incidentals, ” received the cum laude award at the 94th annual meeting of the RSNA in Chicago the first week of December. This prestigious designation was awarded to only 55 of more than 1,600 presenters. James H. Nichols PhD, Director of Clinical Chemistry in the Department of Pathology, Has Been Promoted to Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine Tufts University School of Medicine is Soliciting Nominations for the Alpha Omega Alpha Professionalism Fellowship TUSM Will Select 1 Candiate to Apply for the Fellowship Professors, assistant professors and associate professors who have demonstrated a commitment to professionalism and to the education and development of medical professionals are eligible to apply for the AOA Fellowship which includes $50,000 in funding. (Awardees may apply for additional funds to extend the fellowship.) Application Process Interested faculty should work with their department chairs to develop their applications. Because Baystate Medical Center is not limited to a single candidate, applications will not be screened prior to submission to TUSM. An email with the online application link will be sent out in early January. All submisions must have IRB approval or exemption.The deadline to submit abstracts is Monday, April 20, 2009. Sessions meet from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm in the Chestnut Conference Center. No sessions are held during the Winter school break (February 16-20, 2009). Participants must commit to attending at least 6 of the 7 weeks. Register through the Continuing Education website using the appropriate course code. This course is sponsored by Academic Affairs and the Baystate Office of Diversity and is taught by the International Language Institute.
