Quarterly Education Faculty Development Workshop: Experiential Learning
Speaker: Liz Bennett, PhD
Director of Education, Baystate Medical Center
Clinical education often relies on learning through experience in the practice of medicine. This workshop will introduce participants to models of experiential learning that describe how adults are thought to learn through experiences. Particular attention will be paid to David Kolb's theory. Practical implications for educational design and research will be addressed. |

PVLSI hosts BEACON's Pfizer Seminar Series presentation: Physiological Genomics and Personalized Medicine
Speaker: Dr. Gualberto Ruano
President & CEO of Genomas, Inc., Director of Genetics Research at Hartford Hospital and Adjunct Professor in medical faculties at George Washington University & the University of Puerto Rico
Physiological genomics (physiogenomics) utilizes an integrated approach composed of genotypes and phenotypes and a population approach
deriving signals from functional variability among individuals. DNA-guided medicine will cross over the existing
specialty silos in organized medicine, and redefine the layout of the health system. Physiogenomic applications and case studies of DNA-guided medicine for clinical neuroscience, cardiovascular medicine and diabetes
management will be presented in detail.
