ANNOUNCEMENTS

Literature & Medicine: Humanities at the Heart of Health Care Group Starting Up Again in January 2010

Application Deadline is November 16

Building on the success of last year's inaugural presentation of Literature & Medicine, a new group is being formed for 2010. The seminar is free and open to all employees.

Participant Information

The group will meet one evening a month from January to June, under the direction of  facilitator Leslie Nyman, fiction writer and a former pediatric nurse and health educator. The group will read works of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and memoirs, and discuss issues that are central to the human face of our work as health care clinicians and staff. (A light dinner is provided.) Participants are asked to commit to attending a minimum of 5 of the 6 sessions.

Application Information

Participants will be able to apply online in early November from the Continuing Education website. Selected participants will be notified in early December. Employees who participated last year are asked to not reapply in order to give others the chance to be selected. For more information, contact Loretta Grikis, Health Sciences Library, at 413-794-1894, or via e-mail at Loretta.Grikis@baystatehealth.org.

Literature & Medicine is sponsored by Baystate Health and Mass Humanities.
