ANNOUNCEMENTS

TUSM President Search Committee Embarking on "Listening Tour"

The TUSM Board of Trustees has formed a search committee to assist them in selecting the next president. The search committee is embarking on a "listening tour" to meet with key constituents across the Tufts community. The meeting with the medical school community is scheduled for April 5 at 4:00 pm in Behrakis Auditorium.

The committee will synthesize feedback from the "listening tour" to share with prospective candidates, and to establish criteria for evaluating the skills and experience of presidential candidates.

Let Your Voice Be Heard

Some questions to think about in advance of the meeting are:

  • How is Tufts positioned today?

  • As you look forward, what are the most important things you want the next president to preserve?

  • What are the seemingly intractable problems that Tufts must begin to make progress on?

  • What must the next president do to be genuinely successful at Tufts?

The Library has 1 laptop loaded with Rosetta Stone for Spanish (Latin America).  The Laptop is loaned with a booklet, microphone/headset, powercord and carrying case. Rosetta Stone has 5 language levels; each level contains 4 units which require 6 - 8 hours to complete.   Rosetta Stone is highly dynamic and very visual.  Voice recognition software helps the learner develop proper pronunciation.

To Borrow the Rosetta Stone Laptop

The Rosetta Stone Laptop may be borrowed for one week. The design of the software requires the Library to register each learner and assign a language level.   Learners may renew the Laptop if no one has placed a reservation by the due date. To make a reservation to borrow the Laptop, contact the Health Sciences Library at 4-1865 or email library@baystatehealth.org.

The purpose of the trial period is to rigorously test ProceduresConsult and solicit detailed resident and fellow feedback so that a decision can be made whether the value of the product justifies its cost. The link for the trial is: http://proceduresconsult.com/BaystateHealth. Please contact Martha Anderson if you have technical difficulties.

Collaborative Biomedical Research (CBR) Program

Call for Proposals Due April 19

The Collaborative Biomedical Research Program funds and fosters basic research collaborations between UMass Amherst and Baystate Medical Center. The goal of the CBR Program is to enhance collaborative research between Baystate Medical Center clinicians and the University of Massachusetts Amherst faculty. Eligible research projects must have two Co-Principal Investigators, one each from UMass Amherst and Baystate Medical Center.

CBR Research Grants provide initial support for physicians and scientists to collaborate on a biomedical project.
