ANNOUNCEMENTS Academic Software Pricing for TUSM Faculty Faculty at Tufts University School of Medicine are eligible for significant discounts on software including Microsoft Office 2010 and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and more). This software is only for computers owned by the faculty member, not owned by Baystate Medical Center. For example, Microsoft Office 2010 Professional is available for as low as $66 and Creative Suite Design Standard from $176.51 through Tufts University (you will need your Tufts Universal Tufts Login Name, or UTLN), with slightly higher prices from Academic Superstore. Applications for Dual-Principal Investigator Funding Due July 9, 2010 This internal funding opportunity is intended to stimulate collaboration on a pilot study that will lead to an application to the NIH for a Dual-Investigator Grant Application. Proposals should involve two equal P.I.s. Research assistants, purchase of equipment and supplies, and sponsorship of working retreats are eligible for support. Visit the multiple PIs page on the NIH website for more information about that grant mechanism. Any TUSM faculty may apply provided there is a collaboration with at least one faculty member based in the Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences on the downtown TUSM campus. This program is funded by a grant from the Russo Family Charitable Foundation Trust to Tufts University School of Medicine. In addition, a one-time gift from Michael Jaharis will allow TUSM to provide additional support for meritorious projects. (Download the application form Deadline for Second Round of REACH's International Health Travel Grants Program is August 1, 2010 The International Health Travel Grants Program was established by REACH (Residents Educated in Alternative Cultures and Health) to provide some financial support to residents and fellows seeking a global health experience and to encourage them to incorporate international health as part of their careers. International Health Travel Grants Program Criteria Applications are reviewed by the REACH committee, a multi-disciplinary group that includes faculty from Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics and Surgery. Six to eight grants in the range of $500-$1500 will be awarded.

Research Incubator Fund Letters of Intent Due October 4, 2010 The goal of this Fund is to provide support to encourage research by BMERF and BH physicians with the intent of securing external funding. Initial funding of projects approved in this next cycle begins in early 2010. Key financial support for this endeavor has been committed by BMERF, the Office of Academic Affairs, SAS, BRI, and WNERTA. Grants are awarded for up to 3 years with rigorous mandatory annual review focused on progress towards stated goals. Total anticipated Year One disbursement is $100,000-$150,000 total with $20,000-$50,000 per grant.
