Research Incubator Fund Letters of Intent Due October 8, 2012 by 4:30 pm


The goal of the Incubator Fund is to provide internal grants in the form of “seed” money to encourage research by incumbent BH faculty. Initial funding of projects approved in this next cycle begins in early 2013.

Grants are awarded for up to 3 years with rigorous mandatory annual review focused on progress towards stated goals.

Important Dates

  • October 10, 2012: Letter of Intent due by 4:30 pm

  • Week of October 22, 2012: Letter of Intent Go-No Go communication back to applicants

  • November 27, 2012: Full proposals due in for submission by 4:30 pm

  • Week of December 17, 2012: Award notifications

  • January 1, 2013: Project start date

Collaborative Biomedical Research Grants Program has New Website


The new Collaborative Biomedical Research Grants (CBR) program website was created to improve user experience for researchers from UMass and Baystate applying for funds. Feedback from a survey of recent grant applicants was employed to design the new site.

The new CBR Grants website reflects the independence of the research collaboration from the collaborative Summer Scholars program.

 

Graduate Medical Education Program Web Updates for August


Review and update of the following pages by the administrators of each residency and fellowship program is due by the end of August.

  • Faculty lists and faculty bios (email changes to Sharon Glazer)
  • Message from Chief Resident(s) page - updated for new chiefs
 

Clinical Mindfulness Pilot Study for Physicians Now Recruiting


A pilot study entitled Enhancing Physician Resiliency & Improving Patient Care, which includes 47 hours of instruction, will start in September 2012 and conclude in 2013.

Based on a successful program that was developed at the University of Rochester, this study will assess the impact of a Clinical Mindfulness Program on improving physician resiliency, attentiveness and other attributes associated with patient-centered care. (Download study information.)

The study is open to any physician on staff at a Baystate Health hospital (including non-Baystate Health employed physicians), and who is a current member of Baycare Health Partners. It is funded by Baystate Health Risk Management Grant program.
