2012 Incubator Fund Award Winners


The Baystate Incubator Fund, begun in 2005, provides internal grants in the form of “seed” money to encourage research by Baystate faculty. The goal of this program is to support projects that will lead to publications and novel external funding.

Heather Sankey, MD Receives Promotions


Dr. Heather Sankey, Program Director of the Obstetrics-Gynecology Residency, has been promoted to Associate Professor of Obstetrics-Gynecology at Tufts University School of Medicine.


Dr. Sankey has also been promoted to Vice Chair for Education, Obstetrics-Gynecology Department. She will take a more active role in coordinating all of the students that come through the department, as well as being more involved in CME and faculty development. 

Ellen Brassil, Health Sciences Library Director, Recognized by Medical Library Association


The Medical Library Association in Chicago has recognized Ellen Brassil as a Distinguished Member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals. This is the primary credential for Health Sciences Librarianship.

Barbara Richard, Director of Sponsored Programs Administration, Receives National Council of University Research Administrators Appointments


Barbara Richard has been re-appointed for the second year as Subcommittee Chair of the RADG (Research Administrator’s Discussion Group) for the NCURA (National Council of University Research Administrators) Region 1.


Ms. Richard's involvement in NCURA Region 1 also includes:

  • Appointed 2012 Co-chair of the Curriculum Committee

  • Member of the Chair’s Advisory Committee

  • Member of the 2012 Annual Meeting Program Committee

Jenny Wertheim Promoted to Undergraduate Medical Education Program Coordinator


Jenny Wertheim has been promoted to Program Coordinator, Undergraduate Medical Education in Resident and Student Affairs effective January 8, 2012.


Jenny started at Baystate Medical Center in January 2011 in Academic Affairs Administration. She has worked closely with Resident and Student Affairs, where she was integral in covering Allied Health Services.


Jenny obtained her Bachelor of Arts from Houghton College.
